Just before sunrise looking out over Lake Ontario from the Durand Eastman Beach I was surprised that the sunrise was over the open water of the lake. For the last seven years I have attempted to produce a photograph that features some aspect of the first day of summer, usually with a sunrise or sunset. I was fortunate this year to have selected a location where the conditions were about perfect. Great light, a calm lake with wonderful reflections and a wonderful range of colors. The light had a pastel color that I have attempted to keep in the image and ultimately in the print. The photograph, printed on canvas, is one of the photographs in my show Rochester Moments at Image City Photography Gallery. In keeping with the series, the title of the photograph is Summer Solstice 2011.
