GALLERY OF WORKS - Rippled Shadows Series
The photographs in Rippled Shadows
were taken during a photographer’s stroll on a spring evening at Braddock Bay in
the Town of Greece, New York. It was not a planned outing and the discovery of
the reflections of numerous mooring poles and docks in the bay presented a range
of abstract patterns of shadows rippled on the bay’s wavelets. The intense
colors constantly changed from the daylight blue through the sunset’s brilliant
orange, then back to the dusky blue of twilight. Sheridan Vincent selected about
half of the photographs taken during the 30 minutes of the sunset for this
series.
All
photographs were taken at the Braddock Bay Marina between 19:50:25 and 20:19:06
EDT,
 May 3, 2006 from the eastern shore of Braddock Bay, Town of Greece, NY.
Sunset occurred at 20:15. I used a handheld Nikon D200 with an 80-400mm VR
lens. The images were exposed at f/29, (except #2 at f/11). The speed was ISO
1250. The color of each image was adjusted with Adobe® Photoshop® CS2.
In addition to the standard matted print, I
have also produced select photographs of this series and printed them on KODAK ENDURA Metallic Paper. The photograph is then face-mounted to an acrylic support
and an aluminum back support. The combination of these materials have quite a
stunning appearance. Any of the photographs can be prepared using this method.
If I do not have it already, it could take up to four weeks to have a new
photograph produced with this technique.
I have published this series of photographs in
a book entitled Rippled Shadows.
The 36 page book has the full series of 28 photographs in a perfect bound
