Sheridan's Summer Solstice Series
|

|
Several weeks after I retired I decided that I should return to Honeoye Falls to
get a panoramic photo of the falls. Because the falls face north, I felt that
the best possible lighting would be on the first day of summer. I arrived late
morning and shot several panoramas and also spent time sitting on a park bench
waiting for more light to fall on the red mill building. In one of my first
retirement moments I appreciated that I now had the time to just sit and wait,
no pressure, with some anticipation of the light and the photo. I realized that
it would be fun to do a summer solstice series. Here it is, now with six in the
series. I try to related it to some appreciation of the fact that it is the
longest daylight and that the sun is farthest north in the sky.
I hope to continue the series for at least another 20 years.
I can only wonder what techniques and capabilities will become available over
that time.
